Sun, Mercury And New Moon In Libra: The Fight To Stay Balanced

The fall equinox is approaching and the Sun will be moving into Libra. The theme will be balance between you and others. While Libra is associated with romance this can encompass platonic relationships as well.  This year’s equinox has an added significance with so many planets stacked up in Libra.

Let’s see what this means.

The shift has already started because Venus (Libra’s ruler) has moved in. I wrote a post on the importance of that placement.

The Sun will kick off the equinox on September 23rd, followed by Mercury into Libra on September 25th. They will both be hit by the troublesome opposition to Uranus in Aries and square to Pluto in Capricorn. People’s ideas and goals for all relationships will be tested with revelations (Uranus) and endings or transformations (Pluto). The socially acceptable boat will be rocked as truths (yours or theirs) are revealed. Think back to what happened on September 14th-18th with Venus in Libra for a clue on how events will play out. The difference is that this time the battle will not feel so one sided because Libra has ego (Sun) and intellect (Mercury) on her side. You can deal with these changes consciously and rationally by sticking with what you know (Mercury) is fair (Libra). And that means fair for everyone.

The New Moon in Libra will occur on September 27th and it too will be challenged by Uranus and Pluto. Relationship beginnings, contracts and new directions will be sudden (Uranus) and powerful (Pluto). The reality check (Venus conjunct Saturn) will come immediately after so you’ll know right off if this one will last.

It will be tough to stay balanced. It may feel impossible to stay friendly. When Libra feels threatened this sign dips into resentment, jealously and passive aggressiveness. You’ll come out ahead if you can stay civil and impartial no matter what others throw at you. Remember that Saturn will be sitting right there so civil does not mean ignoring unpleasant realities. If you confront (Uranus) the power trips/obsessions/jealousy (Pluto) head on and do this while keeping your cool, you’ll get some solid (Saturn) rewards (Venus).

This is a lot to ask. But you can do it.

You’ll feel these influences most strongly if you have planets or angles at 0-18 degrees Libra, Aries, Cancer or Capricorn.
