Impossible Adjustments: Jupiter in Taurus Inconjunct Saturn in Libra

Transiting Jupiter in Taurus has brought some good stuff. Opportunities for solid growth, more money, personal security. It’s been a nice ride so far. But lately, you may have felt like someone’s tripped the parking brake. You’ve had to dance around financial red tape or deal with relationship restrictions/criticisms. Comfort is suddenly mixed with a hard-to-pinpoint sense of dissatisfaction.  What gives?

Blame it on Saturn in Libra. He’s hitting Jupiter with an annoying aspect known as the inconjunct. This aspect forces adjustment between two energies that don’t blend. In this case, Libra and Taurus. Taurus wants to sit still. Libra shifts back and forth in an effort to find balance. Jupiter in Taurus wants more comfort so you can be happier while sitting still. But Saturn in Libra points out all the things that need to be re-balanced, refined and done properly.

The house in your chart that contains Taurus (and transiting Jupiter) is where you’ve been experiencing advantages. Look to the house that has Libra (and transiting Saturn) to see where the demands for adjustment are coming from.

For example:

  • A plush, new relationship (Jupiter in 7th House Taurus) is tripped up by unconscious fears (Saturn in 12th House Libra)
  • Solid gold career opportunities (Jupiter in 10th House Taurus) are sabotaged by pessimism/rocky communication (Saturn in 3rd House Libra)
  • An optimistic health routine (Jupiter in 6th House Taurus) is derailed by distracting shifts/criticisms/jealousies in your social group (Saturn in 11th House Libra)

Unchecked growth needs limits; look at this aspect as a way to fine-tune.  Wherever you encounter resistance is where something is out of balance. This will feel like you’re being asked to do the impossible. Give up A for X? No way! But something has to give and Saturn is about responsibility. It’s up to you to fix it.

This aspect will be strongest on May 14th at 24 degrees Taurus and Libra.

Libra in first, Taurus in eighth?

    • Nadia says:

Expansion of 8th House boundaries, breaking through old fears/self-destructive behaviour (Jupiter transiting the 8th) might get tripped up by your awareness of new, personal responsibilities/power (Saturn transiting through the 1st). The adjustment will involve incorporating these new responsibilities. So…as you break through the old barriers, how does the “new you” (brought about by Saturn) fit into this? Maybe you can’t go public with your 8th House discoveries just yet (because of a new social position that demands discretion). On a material level, the 8th House represents shared resources, inheritances, debts, loans, etc. Jupiter transiting this house can bring financial gifts or support from outside sources. You might have to negotiate these gifts with the responsibilities that Saturn has brought you. You can’t spend the money openly, for some reason.

mine is the first example…. hmmm, well I don’t really have a new relationship so not sure!

24 degrees Taurus is my ASC and Saturn is in house 6, do you have any suggestions as to how this may play out in terms of job applications and job interviews? I have a Skype job interview on May 17, and a result of a job interview conducted on April 17 to receive this coming week (both for lecturing positions in universities – Jupiter ruled?).
    Thank you.

    • Nadia says:

You’re correct, university is Jupiter ruled.
Saturn in the 6th speaks to restrictions on a daily level. So the job you are interviewing for might be fabulous but there could be something about the daily work it involves that is distasteful to you. Or something about your health/daily routine could prevent you from accepting the job.

all this i can see as spot on but i do think that there might be a lot of virgos and libras out there that have had this sensation about the parking break for some time now (love that we both thought in terms of car metaphors :) ). my situation is fortunate here in that the alignment has had the opposite affect – the SFM was the ultimate culminating parking break horror for both myself and ‘the other’. 2 days later, after the residue dripped away enough for the both of us, he (libra/gem) stood in my kitchen and spoke out loud his intentions to make sure that i become certain that he was the genuine thing re: all my 8th/12th issues. i didnt have to say a thing: the penny had dropped for him and he was so grateful that i had been patient for SO long until he came to awareness of ‘us’ in material plane terms rather than pie in the sky. a giant growing up step, you could say. (and btw, he owes that patience to your tarot 3-card ‘bridge’ post!)
while i know very well that saturn can feel like a millstone, some charts are just more comfy with the energy or are happy to be uncomfy for a good cause. the jup/sat balancing act that we must all maintain with constant tweaks seems to be in a very healthy state at the moment for us. my 8th house cusp is at 24′ taurus and 1st house is at 25′ libra. i see this as all coming together very well – do you agree?
as saturn births into my first, i want to be very present for it – though i also think its a bit pointless with so much scorp/neptune in there. (neat note: just learned around SFM time that my astroid placement of ‘the oak’ is just seconds behind that neptune. what a brilliant gift of newsflash from the universe: i CAN find my anchor even with this 1st house – at least thats what it means to me. its just mindwarping to have to rethink your entire self when you have always gone with ‘i am a virgo/libra. period.’ when that just isnt the case at all). so i mean that my attitude wont be on auto-cringe. i have sat rx in pisces in 5th so i think i will be able to handle the taskmaster…and since we are never late on our journey, i should probably add thats its happening when i am finally on a threshold where i can try to make wise use of the experience. we live in a participatory universe, says the magician, so you might as well participate proactively.
please let me know if you see anything here amiss x

Thanks Nadia! I just hope I will get a job offer, I need one :) I have been applying for jobs in the academia since July last year, hopefully something will come through now that I completed my degree.

Saturn in the 8th, Jupiter in the 3rd? responsibilities getting in the way of getting the work out there? I’m a Leo and this past week was supposed to be fabulous for career, but nothing happened that I could see…… I’d be happy with a new direction to aim for even

  7. Simone says:

Wow! Nadia-I’m getting hit from all angles: Just turned 50( May 20), have to move by 6/1-feel as if I’m being severely blocked/all responses & interactions negative-also getting very strong “spirit energy”( BIG signs from people passed-to the point of it being frightening!!)-and I keep seeing the number 555 EVERYWHERE! Here’s my chart info #1 and my Solar Return info #2. Would appreciate a couple of words to help steer this runaway train that is my life! Thank you, Simone

      Hi Simone,
Please note that I don’t do free chart interpretations. I don’t mind answering specific questions but the time it takes to look through 2 charts (natal and solar return) demands a paid consultation.

  8. Simone says:

The Jupiter Taurus/Saturn Libra inconjunct you noted
is very interesting consider my normal birth chart denotes My Sun in Taurus and my
Ascendant in Libra 1st house…So am I to assume I’m battling against myself?? :/

    • Nadia says:

Your ego/purpose (Sun) might run against increased responsibilities/restrictions brought on by Saturn in your 1st House. So it’s an adjustment between external image and ego.

  9. deepti says:

My jupiter is transiting 2nd house from moon and saturn is transiting 7th house from moon this year . I am aries moon sign 28 years female

My marriage is getting delayed and i have been unemployed from sometime

now i have got a job but marriage seems a hard bite for me

    • Nadia says:

Saturn in the 7th can delay marriage. For sure. As to when the delay will end…when Saturn moves out of your 7th or check your progressed planets to see if they are making any helpful (trine) aspects to transiting Saturn (as a release).
