One of the most frequent questions I’ve been getting is “How will Saturn’s transit of Scorpio impact my Scorpio Ascendent?” Lots of concerned folks out there with Scorpio Rising.
Here’s my answer:
The Ascendent is your identity. It’s how you relate to the outside world. Saturn’s transit will simultaneously transform and focus your identity. You’re already intense; Saturn will increase this by focusing that formidable power. You may intimidate people. They’ll definitely respect you. Keep this in mind as you interact with others; you’ll be coming across more heavily than you realize. You will have to take responsibility (Saturn) for the power (Scorpio) you project. ‘Cause you do give off a whiff of danger, even in your most lighthearted moments.
Increased responsibility may be foisted on you (via a job, relationship or status change). Or you may just feel “heavier” as you decide to shed your skin and transform your image. You’ll probably want to withdraw for a bit, and that’s fine. Necessary, even. This may be your journey through the valley, but you’ve got stalwart Saturn as your guide; stick to the path he’s laid out for you and you’ll be fine. And if you’re asking “How will I find that path?” Don’t you worry…Saturn makes it damn obvious what you’re supposed to do and where you’re supposed to go.
Of course, much depends on the rest of your chart. And any planets you have in your first house. But this is the general drift. Also, for anyone experiencing a Saturn transit over their AC, know that your focus will be pulled inwards (towards home, family and personal development) until Saturn passes over the cusp of your 4th House (in about 6 years).

Its gotten a little better..lighter feeling the past 2 days..but today was tough cause its been 29 yrs since my stepdad passed unexpectedly in 1983..It was quite traumatic..and life changing..Interestingly today..as I was walking down my street-I just happened to look in the direction of a car parked..and the license plate had his last name w 3 numbers! I was stupified.and then a few cars further down..another plate with different #s but again with his last name!..And then a 3rd farther down!..I was shivering..I then went in to get a coffee at DD..and when I came out 10 mi utes later..parked right in front was a big white van with a plate again w 3 #s and his name!!! Then I lost it!..

A loaded 7th House in your SR points to putting others needs before yours (or having to put other’s needs first). It’s tremendously unbalanced, and makes it difficult to assert yourself. As for seeing your Stepdad’s name…usually a reminder of someone who has passed is a signal that work still needs to be done (regarding your relationship with them). Or, it could be a “goodbye”, a signal that the work has been completed. How do you know which it is? Depends on how you felt (besides eerie) after seeing the license plates. Did you feel closure, or nagging sense that you still had to do something?
P.S Natal Uranus sits closely near the Scorpio DC and a few degrees later in the 7 House but already in Sagittarius is Venus, my chart ruler. Thanks, Dorina
This article impels me to ask how Saturn’s transit affects other Scorpio placements. Saturn will transit Mars in Scorpio (R), although the chart tends otherwise to be heavy in earth signs – sun & ascendant conjunct Taurus, moon Capricorn 9th H, & Venus & Jupiter Taurus 12th H. Does the Saturn transit always add an intensity or can it be balanced by the rest of the chart?
It always adds intensity. It’s such a strong planet, that even if you have Jupiter setting off a ton of squares, Saturn’s influence will still be felt. Moderated, but strongly felt. The area of the chart activated by Saturn will be concentrated. So Saturn over Mars will focus that energy, but will block some of it as well (until you learn how to work with Saturn). Usually the block is felt at the start of the transit and then as you get into the swing of it, it becomes easier to focus the energy.
I have 8 Venus and 7 Chiron in the first house, 24 Scorpio Rising. Will Saturn in Scorpio be affecting me sooner than later? The past few years have been my second Saturn return and then Saturn in Libra. I need a rest!
Saturn won’t cross your AC until Nov, 2014. But you might feel it in your 12th House as you let go of certain situations that no longer serve your best interests.
I have my Scorpio Sun, Mercury, and Uranus (at 29 degrees) on my DSC which is Libra at 29 degrees (phew…don’t know what I would be like with a Scorpio DSC, too)!
So, I feel I have some Pluto power on my DSC…does that mean that Saturn will affect my relationships in a restrictive matter, or could lessons through the other houses affect a culmination in something rich and secure?
Could go either way. It depends on the other transits and progressions hitting your chart, because they will modify this transit.

I’m a late degree Libra, and a Scorpio Ascendant…. w/ merc and Venus in Scorp in the 1st and Pluto in Scorp in the 12th.
For sh*ts and giggles I’ll add that my libra sun is in the 12th house and my natal Saturn is in the 1st!!

12th House is the house of the Soulmate (or Ultimate Other) so I’m not surprised you made that connection.

Cant’ say if it will be better for you without seeing your chart. Saturn over your AC and all those planets in the 1st House will focus that energy and might put some limits on how you express yourself. But the limits will teach you to focus.
I was born 11th Nov 1962 at 11.20 Im not up on the placements of planets etc, but Im quite concerned about things Ive read, is there any good news on the cards for a scorpio like me.

I’m a little late, but Saturn will transit over my Scorpio Ascendent and will oppose my natal Sun, Mars, Venus, Mercury and Chiron.
Uranus and Neptune are in my 1st house.
How will this transit affect me?
Depends on what house your Sun, Mars, Venus, Mercury and Chiron are in. If they are in your 7th House house, you’ll experience changes in your relationships. If they are in your 6th House….work and health.

Hi, I have Scorpio asc, 28deg, with Mars conjunct Neptune in Scorpio in 12th. Sun and Venus in Libra in 11th so have just survived Saturn transit of Libra… literally – cancer diagnosis, a lot of treatment and then lost job and income, but learnt a lot along the way about my own resources and strength. Could do with a break and not anticipating Saturn through 12th with much joy – any help appreciated. I have natal Saturn in Aquarius in 3rd square Mars & Neptune to add to the mix.
Saturn through the 12th is always a time of letting go, but it does not have to be traumatic. It can be similar to a snake shedding its skin.

Just found this article and your story made my jaw drop. I also have Scorpio AC, 12 deg, with Neptune in the first house (24 deg Scorpio). With Venus and Mercury in Libra in the 11th house, I also just survived the Saturn transit of Libra and breast cancer. I just spent the last three 1/2 years dealing with treatment, health setbacks (chemo damage to my body), lost job, lost life direction, more financial setbacks… a real “dark night of the soul.” I applaud your strength and resilience because I know how hard your road has been. Also, forgot to say that natal Saturn is my most aspected planet – trine both Sun and Venus and sextile Jupiter in Aires in 5th. Jupiter is in direct opp. to Sun – there is also a boomerang yod I believe as Neptune/Mars in sextile to Pluto in Virgo with Sun at midpoint.
I have Scorpio Asc. at 0 degrees, Scorpio Neptune at 10 degrees, opposing Taurus Persephone at 1 degree & Taurus Mars at 8 degrees in the 7th. Ceres is at 0 degrees Cancer in the 9th. I’m intuiting perhaps this will trigger the myth of Persephone and the underworld.
Persephone in the chart can indicate where you feel powerless (held captive). Saturn’s opposition could define these issues by emphasizing that “captivity”.

Nadia, I just dug out an old chart – I’m a Scorpio Asc. @ 25 degrees, Scorpio is also in the North Node @ 7 degrees (12th house), Scorpio is in Uranus at 3 degrees (12 house). Uranus is conjunct North Node… Pluto is in Libra at 9 degrees (11th house) – and my sun sign is in Leo (13 degrees/9th house) – Saturn is also in Leo (I’ve never felt like a Leo). What could Saturn in Scorpio do with this? Does any of this sound significant? Thank you for any thoughts…
It will be awhile before transiting Saturn crosses your Scorpio Ascendent, but it will hit your 12th House NN in the next couple of years. Saturn through the 12th House usually triggers an ending, usually a separation from an outmoded part of your life. This is in preparation for the “new you” that will develop when Saturn passes over your AC.

I need your assistance on this as I am 31 years old now and I think that its just my saturn return starting this october but everyone says that a saturn return is when you are 27 to 30 years old. Does this mean im past my saturn return ? My ascendant is in scorpio at 15 degrees and my sun is in leo and my moon is in pisces. As saturn will be back in scorpio after 29 years this october, does this mean that i will have my saturn return just this october (as my ascendant is in scorpio)? Saturn Return happens whenever transiting Saturn passes over your natal Saturn. It usually happens around agres 27-30, but it can be 31. If your natal Saturn is in Scorpio, you’ll be having a Saturn return. It has nothing to do with your Ascendent. As for the impact of Saturn in Scorpio on you, you would need to order a consultation so I could analyze your chart.

Sorry, I should note my libra sun is 27 degrees and scorpio rising at 7.25 degrees.. my mercury and venus are also in scorpio at 16 and 9 degrees respectively.. Is this something I should talk to you about in a mini consultation? Transiting Saturn is moving through your 12th House, which means you are ending a phase of your life. So that’s probably what’s causing this. But I can’t advise you on what to do without analyzing your chart, because there’s always other factors to take into consideration.

Saturn is going to directly affect these three. Now Uranus Opp. Mars Square Moon combo is explosive enough – I’m getting more miserable and cantankerous with age :-/ So I am interested to learn what is Saturn going to do here in my first house, given the number of planets it will be affecting, especially that crazy Uranus in the first house there.

I, too, have Saturn and Pluto in my Scorpio ASC with Venus opposed. Saturn hit the exact degree of my ASC about 5 weeks ago.
Because of my troubles in dealing with, and relating to, other people (I feel like I was born in the wrong century or something), I’ve found myself spending much of my time alone and away from the projections of others (what they think I am, I’m “not”, and what I should or shouldn’t be doing).
I guess mostly just trying to figure out a “plan of attack” of sorts. Trying to figure out who I am, “why” I am, and what my “duties” (spiritual obligations) are. Waiting for “the call”, I guess you could say.
I think most of what’s happened to me over the past year or so is “learning” that what might have worked for me in my youth, or at least what I THOUGHT “worked” for me, isn’t working for me any more – and now it’s time to find something new.

I’m have Scorpio ASC at 5 degrees – with Saturn and Pluto conjunct each other right at the very end of my 12th in Scorpio – and pretty much exactly when Saturn hit I had an “event” that’s “forced” me into my room to, more or less, hide in solitude.
I’ve been here, only leaving for food when I feel like “the coast is clear”, for about 5 weeks or so? Avoiding people, hardly eating. “Fasting”. Probably losing bone density.
Take your time, though, dear old Saturn, my friend. I’m really in no hurry to go anywhere.
Well, Saturn passed 5 deg Scorpio in mid November, and it’s not returning. So it’s done with your AC…

I have Pluto in house 1, in conjunction with my AC in Virgo, and conjunct as well with Uranus in house 12 in Leo. I wonder how Saturn transiting Scorpio in my house 3, with the natal Sun, Mars and Neptune there, may impact on my AC.
My boyfriend has Scorpio Ascendant at 10 degrees so Saturn is just about to cross over. Recently he declared that we are on a “break” emotionally in our relationship for two months while we finish a business project that we are working on. he says he just wants to focus on business for the time being and once we have some income coming in, things will be back to normal. This was incredibly hurtful to me, but reading the post helps me put things into perspective – my takeaway is that he’s going through a temporary and necessary withdrawal. I have Saturn in Leo and Sag ascendant at 25 degrees so I have yet to experience this precise transit. With a 10 degree Scorpio ascendant (he has 0 degree Aquarius sun and 26 degree Aries moon), no planets in first house except north node at 8 degree Sag) when do you think he will be in the clear from this? he is normally a happy go lucky person and was an affectionate and loving boyfriend until this transit started.
There are probably other factors involved (it’s never just one influence). Saturn will be retrograding over his AC in March/April/May but after that it will move on. Can’t say if things will be back to normal by then, though.

I have an 18 scorpio ascendant, a north node at 5 scorpio in the 12th conjunct neptune/jupiter, i am a teacher of advanced dream walking, being a 3rd house aquarian opposite uranus. It took me 55 years of karma hell to purify with a south node in taurus in the sixth, this year 2013 i finally completed my path as a shaman, now presently saturn is going to conjunct my ascendant, as my progressed sun/moon are both at 29 pisces ready to go into my 5th house.
Saturn does not let 1 stone be left un-turned when it comes to karma, responsibility and authority. I have worked almost half my life trying to stay alive and burning my past life karma off with the challenges both in the physical world and the shamans inbetween realm of the dead. With saturn on my ascendant in the 12th house, the cadent house of death and renew in my case with scorpio, i have reached my north node finally and there is one last past life from the 1800s i must clear. Saturn after all that i have been through to reach my destiny, is helping me bring even the last tiring degree to clear the rest so i can close the door and begin my aries life for the remainder…
For that i am very grateful to saturns diligence, discipline and authoritarian cleansing that is required without any rewards in the physical realm, for these will come after my 28 year journey completse, when my 00 and 00 sun and moon progressed goes into aries, and saturn goes in my irst, preparing me for my second saturn return (my work on earth as an elder) and all the years it took to prepare for such work.
I have a great respect for saturn, for without him we would all surely go to the underworld after death, so i personally give thanks to his hardships he demands of us.

Scorpio is strong in my chart – ASC/north node conjunction, venus/uranus in 12th house, ruling planets aspecting my luminaries (pluto opposite moon, mars opposite sun), as well as the only feminine sign I have with planets; eclipses and recent transits have pulled me into withdrawal, centering on “home life,” and these days i feel like I’m obsessed with examining “things I hate myself for”! But these efforts are aligned to transformation, indeed, because as I lurk through the shadows and confront my demons, I see more and more of the light within fighting to shine out…thank you for sharing your “cosmic understandings” and allowing possibilities of clarity to reveal themselves…
