The Purity Edge: New Moon In Virgo

Ultra- pure New Moon coming up on September 15th, at 23 degrees Virgo. It will be making no major aspects to any other planets, so it will deliver a shot of unadulterated, Virgo perfection. And the closest planetary influence (a separating conjunction with Mercury, at 28 degrees Virgo) will be more of the same.

This is fitting, since Virgo is the sign of purity. “Purity”, meaning as close to the ultimate level of efficiency that you can possibly get. Something that works so well, it transcends every other version. Something that’s jaw-droppingly effective. This is the Virgo dream; actions that sing with a unity of thought and intention.

Will you be able to achieve this? Probably not. Not even if you’re a Virgo. Perfection is a myth, remember? But this New Moon can bring you as close as you’ll ever get. So, what do you want to be good at? Really, really good at? What desperately needs improvement in your life? The area of your chart with Virgo in it will hold the potential.

The New Moon is a time of new beginnings, so decide what you want to start (related to the house Virgo is in). Precision communication. Relationships that get better and better. A budget that cracks the whip over the head of your debts. Work habits so polished, they’re blinding. This is not magic; you’ll have to do the work to keep the momentum going. But starting something on a New Moon (with the proper intentions) aligns you with the prevailing, astrological winds. You’ll be heading in the right direction.

Keep these Virgo themes in mind: relentless improvement, stellar service, undeniable logic, discipline, healing, no frills, no excuses.

Those with planets between 22-23 degrees Virgo, Capricorn and Taurus will be in the precision zone. 22-23 degrees Pisces, Sagittarius and Gemini may have to confront some challenging realities/awakenings, but it will still be an opportunity for you to make a clean start.

Awesome. I do not have anything within 23 degrees of anything. I guess i am just floating.

    • Nadia says:

You might still feel this in a general way (in the house that’s activated). The energy is always there, and you can choose to work with it. Or not, if you want to rest. :)

  2. hrae says:

crap this is hitting my ASC/DSC and North and South node. whee!

  3. Christina says:

I have 23 degrees Capricorn in my second house with natal Jupiter. Is it wishful thinking that this might be the beginning of better times?

    • Nadia says:

It could be (the start of better times). If the New Moon falls close to your natal Jupiter, Jupiter’s energy will be activated. But other transits/progressions will modify the energy so you have to look at everything that’s happening. At the very least, you’ll experience an opportunity for increased security, but it will be up to you to work with it. Just because it’s not super obvious doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist.

    Great article!
New moon 23 virgo is on my 8th house pluto degree argh!
How perfectly does pluto want me to be transformed? WTF

    • Nadia says:

The 8th House is about sharing resources with others. Pluto is about power. Virgo is about service to others. Those are the themes you’ll be working with.

  5. Elouise says:

Forty-seven minutes beyond my 12th house Sun!?

  6. mary beth says:

the only hit i will have of those mentioned above is my chiron – bummer. but objectively, i have to say i am interested in the chiron energy and how it manifests and i do have the ability to step out of self to a good degree to ‘watch’.
not quite the funnest ping in the bunch! oh well.

  7. CW says:

I want a relationship that just keeps getting better and better!!

  8. Azure says:

Nadia, I’ve just come across your site and find your work so helpful. I’ve done my chart however I’m not super sure if I’m reading it right. From what I see, I have no planets between 22-23 degrees Virgo, Capricorn and Taurus, and none 22-23 degrees Pisces, Sagittarius and Gemini. Is that even possible? I feel so left out. Perhaps I’m reading my chart wrong?

    • Nadia says:

I have no way of knowing if you’re reading your chart incorrectly. But it’s entirely possible to not have any planets between those degrees, in those signs.

  9. Ramona Guiboche says:

MC at 26 Virgo and NN at 17 Virgo, Jupiter at 25 Sag…

    • Nadia says:

Possible new beginnings in your career, but the New Moon might be too far away from your MC to have much of an impact. You would feel it more if it was happening in your 10th House.

  10. Frog Princess says:

This is going to activate my Saturn at 22* Virgo in 7th. Also got Neptune at 23* Sag conj MC. I reckon this is asking me to drop the self-sacrificing victim mode in relationships and channel that energy into healing myself and/or focusing on my career? or set an intention to begin firmly applying boundaries in relationships to free up energy to put into work/career.

    • Nadia says:

Option #2 sounds about right. You can get super disciplined with Saturn…set some serious intentions (regarding relationships) and you should have no trouble sticking with them. Saturn helps you manifest as well (it represents reality).

  11. Gracie says:

Hmmmm. Just checked, Sun in Virgo 23 house 4. I’m just beginning to understand transits. Since I live in a foreign country, does this apply only to my home country?

  12. Gracie says:

Oh, just noticed, my Moon in Virgo 25 same house. Mercury in Virgo, same house. I’m estranged from a brother, does this mean making peace? Ugh, a tough one.

  13. Dielle says:

So beautifully written. You have nailed Virgo’s essence. Thank you!
