One of the most beautiful versions of the Death card I’ve seen is from the Shadowscape Tarot (upper left). Note the portrayal of the Phoenix, the expression of evolved Scorpio.
Scorpio is the astrological correspondence for the Death card. Most people forget that the flip-side of massive transformation (which results from ultimate endings) is the potential for resurrection. If you get the Death card, you’re being informed that a door will be closing, or you’ll have to let go of something. But there is always new life on the other side. Remember that as you move through Scorpio season.
If you need more encouragement, take a look at the 6 of Cups (lower right) from Aleister Crowley’s Thoth Tarot. It corresponds to the Sun in Scorpio and is called “Pleasure”. It’s true…says so right on the card. It refers to the deep pleasure that comes from knowing loss, then gaining something afterwards. This is not about denying the devastation that loss can bring. Losing part of your life, or a loved one, can crush you. But if you want to keep living, there has to be something to look forward to. If you pull this card, rest assured there’s something better coming up.

I love the hope that is conveyed in this message. It is bitter and it is sweet and it is just as bright as it is dark….
Thank you.
the phoenix tarot is absolutely breathtaking! thanks for sharing
You’re welcome.
The “something better coming up”, where do you look for it? Not sure that’s always the case. It sounds good and hopeful to think that, but not so sure it really is true. You can look near or far, close at hand to ground you, or far in the future to light your steps to a project or dream, BUT, there are those times when neither process works. what do we do then?
You keep looking. The context of this post was specifically about pulling the 6 of Cups. In my experience, if you pull this card, there is something there (usually close by) to give you hope.
I understand it to be, sounds like similar to yourself Nadia, that there is the void(Pluto’s dominion) that lies between ending (death) and beginning (birth), the void is transformation (often architypally symbolised as the Merlin) and there in lies the magic. I am have used tarot at times in my area of service for over 40 years and i always have a sense of rejoicing when the death card comes up, to me it says mystical miracles are possible now in the silver lining of the cloud. It is only humans that have feared death and resisted change up till now, yet I would suggest embracing it and looking for the magic IMO
Exactly. The void contains the power of creation.
