Christmas Surprise: Mars Enters Aquarius And Uranus Squares The Sun

Mars moves into rebellious Aquarius on December 25th. Uranus (the ruler of Aquarius) in Aries (ruled by Mars) will be hitting the Capricorn Sun with an exact square (4 degrees) on the same day. This is a recipe for disruption, but it’s also a chance to bust out of some old, holiday habits.

Aquarius/Uranus and Mars/Aries together will be incredibly restless, edgy and irritable. This energy can trigger arguments, and possibly some accidents. Give yourself and others plenty of room to move. Dial down the expectations. Note that the emphasis is on liberation (instead of rules) and the larger group (instead of your intimate circle). You may be compelled to take a look beyond your immediate family.

The upside is this: if Christmas is a difficult time for you (depressing, isolating, overwhelming) you can use this energy to break free. Many people find this time of year challenging because of its association with the past. Uranus/Aquarius is all about the future, so start your own traditions.

I can’t believe how much I resonate with this article. Over this past week I had such a strong feeling I wanted to do “my own thing” for the holidays. My family lives far away and I was able to see them for Thanksgiving. I usually spend time with my sister who lives near me, but every year I’m forced to spend the holiday with her in-laws! I’ve put up with it year after year even though it always made me kringe inside! This year I decided I will NOT spend one more holiday with her in-laws whom have no relation to me, and I will do what I WANT TO DO! LOL So I’ve finally “broken free”, starting my “own” memories no matter how “untraditional”, and then I read this article! And there sits transiting uranus in my 4th house too! It feels so liberating :)

Strangely, the same for me. It would be the usual party with random friends or wanting to crash some; however, this year, I decided to spend it with my mother – just having coffee and cakes. It was liberating. No need to be “included” and be seen with people who are “living it up”. I will not allow myself to do that even last year. But i know this is just a great beginning.
