The key words with Capricorn are “grow up”. Note that these words imply forward movement.
Venus moves into Saturn ruled Capricorn on January 8th. The combination of relationships/money/self-esteem (Venus) with status (Capricorn) can play out in a couple of ways:
- Maturity
- Slave to tradition
Venus will be challenged by a square from Uranus in Aries (exact on January 12th, at 5 degrees), but she’ll be feeling this the minute she enters Capricorn. For you, this means that Venus-ruled activities (love, beauty, money, socializing, personal values) will receive a jolt. Exactly which activities are jolted depends on the area of your chart (occupied by Capricorn).
What are your Venus traditions? If you’ve approached these areas with maturity (you’ve taken responsibility for what you want while steadily progressing) the square from Uranus will push you to prove that what you’ve got is worth preserving. Fight for that relationship. Establish your boundaries. But if you’ve been going through the motions (because that’s the way you’ve always done things), or you’ve sacrificed authenticity in favor of status, you will be liberated from a rut. Rigid relationships and fear-based values will be cracked open. If there’s anything inside worth preserving, you’ll know it.
Venus will then move on to a conjunction with Pluto (exact on January 16th, at 9 degrees). This will take the Uranus disruptions to a deeper level. Solid relationships and authentic values will become more profound. Anything else will evolve or die. Yeah, it’s harsh. But we’re in Capricorn now; it’s all business.
Love, resources, values will grow if you:
- Act like a grown up
- Get real about what you want versus what you need
- Establish healthy boundaries and personal authority
Love, resources, values will be severely disrupted if you:
- Cling to fear-based habits
- Adopt an attitude of futility
Venus will remain in Capricorn until February 1st. Those with planets/angles between 0-10 degrees Capricorn, Aries, Libra or Cancer will feel the greatest impact from Uranus and Pluto.
Uranus 5 degrees in Cancer 8th house and Mercury 5 degrees Libra 11th house…did all my hopes,wishes and dreams just die?
@ Christina: i’m not an astrologer, but maybe those hopes, wishes, dreams will be severely tested? the ones that are not valid may “die”? we live in the material world. Saturn feels like the restoration of reality?

@Elizabeth, Thanks for the comment and my hopes, wishes and dreams are reality. I just lived through almost 3 years of Saturn in my sun sign Libra and that was a lesson in survival. My wishes have more to do with a peaceful, quiet existence with very few debilitating surprises.
The only things that will die is whatever is holding you back/keeping you stuck. If you’re committed to moving forward, you should be ok.
I guess I do feel all grown up, having had saturn through my 12th house libra testing and strengthening the emotional muscle of my moon a few times, things do feel strangely optomistic and hopefully I will see that I did indeed not feign from the challenges, took responsibility for ALL that is mine and will think and speak appropriately during this phase, pluto has been opposing my natal merc at Cancer 8 for a while now and been doing a grand job at getting down to the nitty gritty of the truth within the depths of me, so hopefully (breathing alot of deep breaths) with saturn on my natal neptune, which last time seemed to reveal doom and gloom and I lived in it for quite a while, will this time reveal something more promising, it remains to be seen, jupiter is in my 8th house…

We remodeled our home years ago & mistakes were made which caused damage. I NEED to FIX these before more damage occurs yet I feel whoever I hire will screw that up too. Sounds like I’ve “adopted an attitude of futility” & “clinging to fear based habits”.
Venus is about to cross my IC to enter my empty 4th house Capricorn where Pluto, Mercury, Sun & Juno are right now & Uranus is currenty in my empty 7th house Aries.
Time to “Grow Up” or else…
At the very least, Venus in your 4th should give you favourable options for hiring contractors. The fear is understandable, especially with transiting Pluto sitting there, which can make things feel that much more intense. But Pluto is also about confronting old damage, so I think you’ll find that once you get the ball rolling it should become easier.
Nadia, Thank you so much for the encouraging words!! I’ve struggled with this a great deal & sought help. I’ve gotten excellent insight & advice but when I started working on it things went south quickly so I stopped. Maybe the sky is telling me NOW it’ll be ok. BLESSINGS!!
im a cancer, cap rising… my relationship has been severely tested the past few weeks… ive been in agony hoping for a restoration and new begining. im praying it isnt over but only a time of death to the old destructive habits of our past… i hope that the new moon will bring with it a new begining for me and my love <3
Sorry to read about your relationship difficulties. They can be so painful. The NM’s impact really depends on what area of your chart it falls in.
Thank you for this article, Nadia. I have Moon at 5°Aries, my birthday is January 11, when I’ll be 51 years old. Little bit of tension with the girlfriend the last few days, which may be Venus related. I wish she would quit smoking but with Neptune in her 12 house, Pluto/Uranus in her 10th, Jupiter in Pisces, and Saturn in her 3rd… ahh well… that futile feeling….

“Get real about what you want versus what you need”…distinguish between your wants (your desires/longings) and what you actually need to function. Figure out how important your wants are. Are they essential? What you need is essential.
So i feel I have been “fighting for my relationship” for the last 4.5 years. So with the new moon in Capricorn (or the Venus placement – not sure which it was) I decided that maybe it’s time to *stop* fighting and let it go. Interesting that it seems to defy everything I am reading about the conjunction. Hopefully I made a good decision.
Oh! and this is all happening in the 11th house for me! Wishes and hopes maybe…maybe to actualize my wish/hope/goal to have a good, real partnership?
Yes, the 11th is wishes/hopes. Making them real.
