The Spring Fire of Imbolc

February 2nd is Imbolc, the halfway point between Midwinter and the Spring Equinox. It’s associated with the start of spring, spring cleaning and purification in preparation for birth (the Celts associated it with the pregnancy of their ewes).

It is also connected to the triple Goddess Brigid (Goddess of the hearth, healing and creativity). Brigid’s perpetual flame is the hope that something more will come from ____. This day is about quickening…the potential for something that’s growing.

Seems appropriate that just one day prior to Imbolc, Venus and Mars will move into new signs. On February 2nd, the Moon in Scorpio will square Venus and trine Mars in the morning, suggesting that the urge to relate differently (Venus in Aquarius) to money/relationships/beauty/values (Aquarius) may be a struggle. Or, it may be the struggle that pushes you to break free. But the harmonious trine to Mars in Pisces says that the path of least resistance lies in flowing with events. Mars in Pisces takes action, but it’s ruled by dreams and faith. Initiate something new, based on what lies beyond what you “know”, and then stand back and allow it to unfold.

That’s how you light the fire.

If you have planets/angles between 0-1 degrees Aquarius, Pisces or Scorpio you’ll feel the most potential with these aspects.

happy imbolc. nadia, will you be discussing the stellium in pisces next month? i’m pisces (sun 8 degrees, moon, mercury) and virgo rising (9 degrees). am processing the upcoming landscape with 1) february full moon in virgo, 2) mercury retrograde in pisces, and 3) stellium in pisces that is culminating in march. thanks for your insights. have a wonderful weekend.

My Moon is @ 2° Pisces. I’m Gem w Libra rising. Very much struggling with the ‘birthing of something new’ because i feel stuck not knowing what shape it should take. Some very big decision have to be made this year, and due to fact it involves moving mega long-distance, everything looks too black & white. I hate that and i’m struggling to find some ‘Middle Path’ … which looks impossible. So i’m like a kettle… something gonna have to come out.. but what?
