Mercury moves into Pisces today (February 5th); the planet of logic,  intellect and communication is swimming in uncharted waters.

Details will be fuzzy (especially from February 5th to 6th, when Mercury conjuncts Neptune). So just forget about getting things perfect. Toss out the to-do lists. Logic will fade, replaced by instinct and feeling. Mercury in Pisces puts the dream into words, and confuses words with the dream. This is the energy for poets, writers and musicians. And liars.

Yes, deceit is a biggie with this one. Probably not with malicious intent, but facts will be overlooked. People will hear what they want. This is fantastic if you’re creating something that offers an escape from reality, but not so great if you need clarity and detachment.

What can you do? Let go of rigid expectations. Obviously, if you work in a job that demands attention to detail, you’ll need to stay on top of things.  But if you’re tuned into this energy, and are ready to accept the inevitable miscommunications/mistakes, this transit will go much easier for you. This is not letting  your standards slide, it’s about relaxing your grip on what you can control. Amazing things will happen if you accept that…things will happen. If this all reads a bit Zen, then you’re getting the hang of this Pisces thing. You cannot control this energy with must-haves or must-dos.

And the truth will come out (it always does), so don’t stress about that, either.  Focus on what you’re saying; are your words aligned with what you believe in? That’s Pisces truth.

If you have planets in Pisces, you’ll experience this influence a bit differently from the other signs. You’re already in the zone that’s “out there”, so this transit may actually clarify things for you. The vague dream/longing/unrealized goal can now take shape, via your words. Speak it, write it…even if it sounds insubstantial. Even if others question your ideas. Who cares what they think, just get it out there. You’ve got Neptune (your ruler) in your corner. This is your time.

Mercury’s transit of Pisces will last until April 13th. Mercury will be retrograde in Pisces from February 23rd to March 17th (I’ll write a post about this).

as your pisces sun/moon/mercury reader, i’m ready for this. i’ve been processing your list of evolved and unevolved piscean traits. i recognize myself on both lists. i aspire to embrace and utilize the strengths and to move beyond the limitations. thanks nadia!

  2. Limerence says:

Nadia, I have no planets in Pisces, but I have four in Virgo that are already being opposed by Neptune! How can I keep my head about me during all these Pisces transits? (or should I even try???)

    • Nadia says:

The 4th paragraph that starts with “What can you do?” is especially relevant to Virgos. Virgo tries to control by getting things “just so”. Pisces has its own agenda about what’s going to work, and you may not be clear on what that is, so just let things unfold. Accept that you’ll be late, that things will not go according to plan, mistakes will be made, etc. And in the process, you’ll be on Pisces’ wavelength and will open up new opportunities.

      • Limerence says:

Thanks Nadia, I think I get it. I will do my best to just let things flow a little. I am ready for a few changes in my life anyway, and I see that this could help!

  3. Elouise says:

Yes, please, Nadia, a few words about Virgo would be greatly appreciated. 12th house Sun and Asc in Virgo here.

    • Nadia says:

The 4th paragraph that starts with “What can you do?” is especially relevant to Virgos. Since this energy will be in your 6th House of routine, health and work, it might hit you in these areas, so explore how you can allow things to happen in your daily life. On the mundane level that you share with others, as opposed to things that you keep to yourself (12th House).

  4. Kira says:

I am wondering how can it work for someone with no planets in Pisces, but with the Ascendent placed there. Any hints? :)

    • Nadia says:

AC=your identity and how you relate to people in general. These are the areas that will be impacted, so think about how you’re projecting yourself. Also, others may project their stuff onto you, so this is a good time to be aware and address it with them.

      • Kira says:

        Thanks a lot! :)

        • Kira says:

Suprisingly, this transit seems to be very beneficial for me! Instead of drawning in confusion, I finally managed to defeat the stagnation and limitations which has been paralyzing me lately and made some important improvements in my environment that seemed to require an anormous effort before. And all that came so easily, one could say: down the stream. Apparently, Pisces are doing good to me. ;)

  5. brenda says:

Jenn, I am like you..sun,moon, merc all in pisces..and i too, was reading and trying to follow the list of pisces trait for evolved and unevolved pisceans ..I was getting depressed thinkng i am so unevolved, but reread that you can slip easily between the two..so now I will be more careful…I sure dont want to be considered unevolved!

    • Nadia says:

It’s not about others considering you unevolved. There’s no judgement, because we are all evolving. It’s about using the energy in a way that’s best for you. If the word “unevolved” makes you uncomfortable, substitute “shadow”.

    • Jenn says:

brenda, life is an ebb and flow. i find myself experiencing both sides of the spectrum. i believe the key is to remain conscious and compassionate while mindfully striving to be our best selves. happy early birthday. wishing you a beautiful year ahead.

  6. Cassandra says:

Never quite sure how to interpret the 8th House (where this stellium is happening for me). Thoughts?

    • Debbie says:

Hey there Cassandra, I found Nadias information on the houses helped simplify the 8th house stuff, if you go to categories drop down above the blog roll top right of page, click on astrology lessons there is one there on the 12 houses.

  7. Mary Hu says:

So far, I love this Mercury in Pisces vibe. We are a life-learning/unschooling family, and I have noticed that transiting Mercury’s sign colors what the kids want to learn about. When Mercury was in Aquarius, we spent loads of time doing science projects. This week, though, their interests have turned to art projects, and my 8-year-old wants me to start reading Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea with him.
In my own chart, all of this Pisces energy will be in my sixth house. I’m going to crank up the classical music, put some lavender essential oil in the diffuser, and try to go vegan for the next few weeks.

    • MajjikMoon says:

This is really interesting – wouldn’t it be wonderful if mainstream school curriculum was based on transiting Mercury and the cosmos. My 7 year old has Sun, Uranus, Venus and Neptune in his 12th house and I am seriously considering home schooling him this way – it just seems to make sense – in a dreamy Piscean way, of course :)

      • Debbie says:

MajjikMoon, if there are no alternative schools to encourage that brilliant and powerful imagination to its full potential, home schooling in my opinion would be a good choice, the harshness of the intellectual rule rigidy of main stream education would likely cause a lot of dis-ease in the mind for your very senstivie youngster, but then I am of the opinion this type of education is much needed for the sensitive “knowing” of many of our younger generation who would perhaps not then be subjected to bullying or need to escape through depression and or substances, so just my opinion, my bandwagon, with experiences of myself and my own children to go by, but still just opinion.

        • Debbie says:

ps 2 of my adult children have stelliums including merc in 8th or 12th houses, my 3rd has sun 8th, then moon 12th and merc 9th like me, they are all late teens early 20 and all have been through depression and anxiety like myself at their age and one extreme to the point of social phobia, It is not a silly airy fairy issue, it is real.

      • Mary Hu says:

Hi, MajjikMoon! Please follow your heart in whatever decision you make about your son’s learning. There are good publications and websites about unschooling, and there might even be a group or association in your area to support you in your journey. BTW, my daughter has Venus and the Moon in her twelfth house; her unique needs and abilities were what inspired me to start on the life-learning/unschooling journey.

        • MajjikMoon says:

@ Debbie & Mary Hu – thank you for advice. We’ve taken the plunge and start home schooling next term (my 8 yr old son made this decision for both of us – good on him – something to do with his progressed asc moving into Aries I think) he wants to have a chance to say goodbye for now to his friends he has made the last 2 years at school.I am excited too and looking forward to what we will all create and manifest together in our children – hopefully to contribute to raising the evolved Pisces vibration on this earth. Thanks so much to both of you.And most of all, to you Nadia, for providing this wonderful place of sharing.

    • Nadia says:

Ah, what great examples of Pisces’ energy in daily life (6th House).

  8. mary beth says:

hi there. zooming through, catching up on fab posts.
very encouraged to know that my merc in 12th will take all of this in stride. i was wondering about that…
the tr. stellium in my 5th is keeping me quite happy :)

but it is SO important to remember that *others* are experiencing this energy somewhere in their wheel and it can be disconcerting for them – or make them appear to be misleading; as you say no malicious intent intended – and we must not take this *personally*.
thanks :) on to the next post…
