The January 27th New Moon is at 8 degrees Aquarius. It makes no aspects, but is defined by a square between Venus in Pisces and Saturn in Sagittarius, on the same day.
As I explained in this post, this year's Aquarius season is about Saturn. The Sun's Aquarius ingress occurred on the same day as a Mars/Saturn square, and now we have Venus/Saturn. Mars/Saturn was about frustrated actions/repression, and Venus/Saturn is about limits on what you want.
But, I also pointed out that Saturn is the traditional ruler of Aquarius. Saturn's energy of restraint goes well with Aquarian detachment. It still won't feel great, but there will be something unavoidable that you'll have to accept with maturity. Just deal with it. I know...this is not a warm and fuzzy message. But this is not a warm and fuzzy Moon. The vibe is a bit lonely, a bit cold, with enforced independence. A Venus/Saturn square is a crisis, because the blockages you encounter force you back on your own resources. Aquarius is about being an individual.
See the theme that's emerging?
Let's not forget that this is a New Moon. It is a new beginning, and a chance to start fresh. Aquarius points to the future, limits or no limits. The Venus in Pisces beautiful dream collides with reality, and Aquarius' bracing clarity is your splash of cold water. Now you can face the future with a clear head.
What's even more encouraging is Mars' Aries ingress on January 28th. One day after the New Moon, the planet of action comes home to its sign. The first sign. This strongly supports new initiatives, fuelled by courage and passion. And independence. Whatever restrictions or responsibilities you're confronting, the message is crystal: now is the time to move forward, and maybe even start fresh. Let me be clear - you're not avoiding your responsibilities. Please don't do that under a Saturn square. You are turning to yourself and finding the strength, savvy and maturity (there's that word again) to make it through. It won't always be like this. But for now, it's up to you.
You can do this.
