Aquarius is seeing a bit of action these days. The Sun moved into this sign on January 20th and Mercury joins the party from January 27th to February 13th.
What does Mercury in Aquarius mean? Ideas that are fresh and radical. Thoughts with a detached, this-is-the-view-from-outer-space quality. Mercury is detached to begin with but it hits the next level when it enters cool Aquarius. Uranus (Aquarius's ruler) is the higher octave of Mercury. This means its energy is a more evolved, more powerful, purer version of Mercury.
We all have Aquarius in our charts. So we all have the potential to tap into this electric, inspired energy. If you know your birth time you'll know what area of your chart (and life) the Sun is currently heating up. This is where you'll have the freedom and energy to:
- Cut ties with the past
- Come up with a last-minute, unexpected, genius solution
- Stand apart from the crowd
- Detach yourself (in a calm, friendly way) from negative people/situations
Once Mercury enters this area you'll really start to hum as you put this energy into words and/or are flooded with extraordinary ideas. I'm serious. Concentrate on that area of your life and see what happens.
One thing to be aware of: Aquarius is a fixed sign. Fixed + Radical=Fanatical. The shadow side of Aquarius is latching onto an idea (the more bizarre, the better) and running with it beyond the bounds of sanity. No matter who gets hurt. Not so cool Aquarius can be hysterical.
The beauty of Aquarian energy is not how quirky it is (although this can be fun). Fully evolved, switched on Aquarius is detached to the point that it sees the truth of any given situation. It is blessed with a clarity that is almost psychic because it is not muddied with expectations, prejudices or fears. We're not machines so this detachment is neither desirable nor doable on a long term basis. But in certain situations, this kind of seeing can be powerful.
