Mercury (information and communication) moves into structured Capricorn today. Normally, this is an excellent influence for planning, but with all the static being thrown off over the next few days, plans (and rules) are made to be broken. Mercury will conjunct Pluto and square Mars in Libra (on December 31st, at 11 degrees), which may be a particularly intense day for verbal power plays and arguments. The anger/resentment of the Mars/Pluto square will be given a voice by Mercury. If you need to speak out on this day, do so with caution.
Fortunately, after January 2nd, the edginess should die down. Mercury will be opposing Jupiter retrograde (at 15 degrees Cancer) from January 2nd to 3rd, but I like this aspect. Jupiter's optimism throws a happy curve ball at Mercury in Capricorn's regimented list; the rules are still being broken, but with a sense of "Really? I didn't think I could do that!" It's a brief influence, but a hopeful way to start off the New Year. These two days may bring more than you planned on, in a very nice way.
Mercury's tour of Capricorn will be short (until January 11th). For the brief window between between January 3rd and 11th, you can take advantage of Capricorn's focus to bring structure to some of your dreams. If you're into New Year's resolutions, this will be the time to make them. When it's not being shaken up by other influences, Mercury in Capricorn says " I am going to do this, and here's my 10 point, unstoppable plan."
I'd like to wish everyone a healthy, fulfilling holiday season. Thank you all for reading and supporting my work, and I look forward to continuing our journey together in 2014.
