Mars entered Pisces today, kicking off a square to Saturn in Sagittarius (exact on January 15th at 2 degrees).
Creative or faith-driven actions will be challenged by Saturn's reality, and Saturn's structure will be challenged by vague irritations that flare up. It will be difficult to find solutions, because the problem won't be clear. It will be difficult to power through, because motivation will be lacking, or the target will seem impossible to hit.
Think of waves breaking against a wall, and you have the essence of this aspect.
What to do? You can wait it out, and do nothing. But if you have something important scheduled during this time, stick to the Mars in Pisces mantra: let it happen, even if "it" is nothing. Direct action will not work, but an initial effort followed by acceptance of whatever unfolds might net you positive results. Think about what happens when you toss a stone into water. There's ripples...outward momentum, although the stone hasn't moved forward. You don't have total control over the Mars in Pisces outcome. All you can do is orient yourself in the proper direction. Saturn may shut you down, in which case, you wait until the square passes. Or, Saturn can force you to redirect. Either way, tap into Saturn's discipline to cultivate calm patience.
Remember that Saturn is Sag is about defining your ideals and focusing on one, future path. This aspect is part of that.
From January 15th to 19th, Mars will build to a conjunction with Neptune, at 5 degrees Pisces. There is a Saturn/Neptune square coming up towards the end of this year (at 7 degrees), and this Mars activation is the preview. He's giving you a taste of what's to come as he bounces off Saturn's restrictions into Neptune's great dissolve, suggesting a reaction to what you can't (Saturn) accomplish. Mars/Neptune is the head-first dive into escapism, denial or release. This can be a moment of peak creativity, or a moment when you give up: it all depends on how you deal with Saturn's limits. If you're exhausted from trying to force something that was never meant to unfold, you'll probably collapse at this point. But if you've rationed your energy and focused it in a positive direction, Mars/Neptune can be your breakthrough, your healing, your faith reignited.
For those keeping tabs on Black Moon Lilith, she'll be opposing the Mars/Neptune conjunction (from Virgo), suggesting a showdown between temptation/denial and sex that takes you higher, or humbles you. Oppositions to Mars/Neptune suggest sexual magic or victimization, depending on whether you're working evolved Neptune (forgiveness, acceptance) or Shadow Neptune (sacrifice, delusion). Obviously, this would be one of the worst times to self-immolate with the married guy/unavailable guy/guy who rejected you.
If you have natal or progressed planets, angles or Nodes from 0 to 7 degrees of the Mutable signs, you'll feel the square and conjunction (I'm interpreting these two aspects as one influence because they're so close together). You should also prepare yourself for the Saturn/Neptune square.
The Mars/Neptune conjunction peaks one day before the New Moon (at 0 degrees Aquarius) and Uranus' conjunction to the South Node in Aries (both on January 20th). I'll write about these influences tomorrow.
