The June 4th New Moon at 14 degrees Gemini will be the key that unlocks a Grand Mutable Cross.
The cross will be in effect from May 31st to June 4th, and will consist of the Sun/Venus in Gemini squaring Jupiter in Virgo (14 degrees) and Neptune in Pisces (12 degrees) which will oppose each other. The Sun and Venus will oppose Saturn Rx in Sagittarius (12 degrees) which will square Jupiter and Neptune. The Cross brings reality/limits (Saturn) up against dreams (Neptune) and expansion (Jupiter). Jupiter and Neptune will egg each other on, inflating potentials and pushing boundaries aside. But Saturn will put the brakes on. So there's a mix of hope and disappointment, growth and constriction.
Into this confusing mix we have a New Moon conjunct Venus. New developments may dangle something tempting in front of you. It will look/sound good, and may even be too much of a good thing, as Jupiter and Neptune inject a rush of confusing choices. But at the same time, you'll be labouring under Saturn's shadow.
This could play out in many ways:
- all choices but one turn out to be hollow
- you're forced to choose
- your new situation starts to expand rapidly, only to encounter a formidable obstacle
- you have to pick something, but you don't know what
At first glance, it may be difficult to know whom or what to trust, especially when you're dealing with Mutable signs, which can flip-flop back and forth between facts. But Saturn will be clear on what you need to focus on, and what you need to discard. So really, not that difficult. The trick is that you may not like Saturn's agenda.
The configuration of the Cross, and the combination of Neptune and Saturn, also suggest a sacrifice. When Neptune and Saturn aspect each other, there's always an underlying theme that involves releasing (sacrificing) a dream or ideal, in order to accommodate reality. And, releasing control in order to accept what you have no control over. Don't be scared by the word "sacrifice." It just means you'll have to surrender something that's been blocking you, or slowing you down. If we go back to the conjunction of the New Moon with Venus, we can see that ultimately, this cross has something positive to offer.
As I explained in this post, this New Moon is the centerpiece of Gemini season. It is flanked by two Full Moons in Sagittarius. One occurred on May 21st, and the other will happen on June 20th (just before the Sun exits Gemini). So this Moon and Cross will mark a tipping point - a turn of the tide in a situation. You may not be able to see it through the confusion, but by the time June 20th rolls around, you'll understand how developments that manifest around June 4th will point you in a new (better) direction.
The North Node in Virgo/South Node in Pisces (at 17 degrees) will be a touch out of orb, but I'm including them in the Grand Cross/New Moon. Neptune (South Node ruler) will be directly involved with the cross, and Mercury (North Node ruler) is also ruler of Gemini. Think of them as guideposts that point you in the right direction. You always want to move towards the Virgo North Node: facts, solutions, specifics, improvements. The South Node is what you're concluding.
It's significant that the Grand Earth Trine (with Mercury in Taurus) will be finishing up as the Cross is forming. I'll write about the interplay in this week's horoscopes.
If you have anything from 9 to 15 degrees of the Mutable signs, you'll feel the New Moon and cross most strongly.
