Beltane, the Pagan fire and fertility festival, happens from sundown tonight to tomorrow night. It's all about celebrating life and sex. What's not to like?
It will be supported by a wide Grand Earth trine tomorrow morning, consisting of the Sun at 11 degrees Taurus, a Moon/Mars conjunction at 5 degrees Virgo and Pluto at 9 degrees Capricorn. Normally I would consider the planets a bit too far apart to form an effective trine, but this is a potent time of year.
You don't have to practice Wicca to celebrate the Pagan festivals. It's about energy; Beltane is the half-way point between the Vernal Equinox and the Summer Solstice. There's a build up of power/Qi/life force...whatever you believe moves you through your days. The more you repeat something, the stronger it becomes. What does that tell you about a festival that's been celebrated for centuries?
Focus (Sun) on building abundance (Taurus) with passionate (Moon/Mars) dedication (Virgo) to powerful (Pluto) traditions (Capricorn). Build on existing potentials and celebrate what you already have. This is the ideal time to get married, conceive a child (or creative project) or just appreciate everything that's good in your life.
Fragrances/incense associated with Beltane: roses, lilac, patchouli, sandalwood, cinnamon, vanilla, frankincense and musk.
