Bunnies to Baphomet

The Lovers from the Baphomet Tarot by H. R. Giger http://www.giger-art.com/giger-tarot.html

Purely self-indulgent post here.

There's two very different Tarot decks that I'm loving now. The Baphomet Tarot, or H.R. Giger Tarot, is a Majors only deck based on Giger's work.  See his version of The Lovers in the upper left corner. It's dark; the images provoke a visceral response. I recommend caution when using this deck, simply because it gets under your skin. If you want to do some serious shadow work, this is the deck for you. But be prepared for some unpleasant revelations. Not for amateurs.

At the other end of the spectrum, Nakisha Elsje VanderHoeven has created The Rabbit Tarot. It's light, charming and safe for all to use. I especially love the wistful 7 of Tulips (picture at lower right).

Tarot cards pretty much have the same meaning, no matter which deck you use. But the response that the images trigger can change the entire mood of the reading. That's why I recommend staying away from the heavier decks (like The Baphomet) until you're feeling confident about the whole "telling your fortune" thing. And you may never want to venture into darker Tarot territory. That's fine. Tarot is a fantastic tool because there's so many different decks to choose from. Staying at the lighter end of the scale does not invalidate your readings.
