Tarot court cards (Page, Knight, Queen, King) usually refer to a specific person. But what if you get a Queen for a man, or a King for a woman?
A court card represents how someone is presenting themselves. If a King is pulled, it means that person (male or female) has authority in the situation being asked about. They are in charge; they've got the control. If a Queen is pulled, that person has a lot of energy (which type will be described by the particular suit), and a strong presence. But they don't have the authority. This does not mean they are powerless, they're just not in command.
Another way to look at it; Kings represent completion, Queens represent attraction. A King is top of the heap, and needs nothing else. A Queen is drawing things/people towards her.
Knights represent change and forward movement. Pull a Knight for someone, and they are ready to move forward (but the speed of change will be dictated by the suit). Pages represent children, or someone who is naive/immature/inexperienced. They are beginners (although they may or may not stay that way).
