More on transiting Venus in Scorpio, this time about obsession.
Why is Scorpio (or more specifically, Venus in Scorpio) obsessive? Here's an explanation from Jeffrey Wolf Green, from his book "Pluto: The Soul's Evolution Through Relationships, Vol 2":
"An evolutionary intention that all Venus in Scorpio people have...is one in which their Souls have desired to remove all sources of external dependence. This intention has manifested because of the Scorpionic tendency to overly identify with...any person...that allows them to feel safe and secure. ...anyone meeting these requirements will ...be attached to for as long as possible."
In order to learn how to remove those dependencies, Scorpio needs to attach, first. It's about survival. The next step is to remove those attachments that inhibit personal growth. But it's easy to get bogged down in the attachment part, and forget about moving on.
We've all fixated. Whether it was on a person, habit, situation or thing. Think about why. You probably felt that the _____ had something you desperately needed. Such is the heat of obsession (you feel like you'll die if you can't have it). Such is the energy that transiting Venus in Scorpio brings up, but it also raises awareness of what/who you don't need.
To break that obsession, you need to realize that nothing external holds the key to your ultimate happiness. You've got the key, not Mr/Ms Yummy, not that car, pay increase, dream destination, etc. All those externals are reflections of your inner resources. Nothing and no one is so essential (not even money) that you need to focus myopically on it, and risk your sanity.
You hold the key to your survival, and that's the real lesson of transiting Venus in Scorpio.
