Mercury (communication and information) entered Cancer today. Cancer is the sign of emotions, so Mercury's logic is now tinted by feeling. This is not a completely rational transit, which can be positive or negative, depending on how comfortable you are discussing needs.
Cancer involves the following: security, nurturing, food, mother, neediness, home, childhood.
Mercury will make it to 3 degrees Cancer (on June 7th) when it turns retrograde. It will back out of Cancer and into Gemini on June 17th. I'll cover the Gemini part of the Rx period in a few days. For now, know that 0-3 degrees Cancer is crucial. Mercury will pass over those degrees a total of three times (the final time when it goes direct). This is the part of your chart where Mercury will push you to analyze or discuss a specific Cancer issue, in the context of the house those degrees are in.
Remember that Mercury Rx is internalized and intensified, so the Rx portion in Cancer (from June 7th to 17th) will probably involve much analysis of feelings and the past. This can manifest as fixation on a particular security need that's not being met. Also, Cancer's association with the past emphasizes Mercury Rx's "looking over your shoulder" stance; watch for a possible nostalgic contact from someone.
From now until June 7th (while Mercury is direct in Cancer) pay attention to hints about what might push you into emotional analysis overdrive, once Mercury goes Rx. Could be a discussion, random email, something you read or overhear. Once Mercury does go retrograde, it will be important to honour all feelings (yours or other people's) that come into focus (even if you feel swamped by what's being analyzed). Is there a security issue or need that you can't seem to stop thinking about, or that someone else keeps harping on? An irritant that you can't stop talking about? That's your clue, right there.
Once Mercury moves back into light and logical Gemini, you'll get a breather.
Dates to be aware of (which I'll address in separate posts):
- June 7th: Mercury turns Rx in Cancer
- June 17th: Mercury backs into Gemini
- July 1st: Mercury direct in Gemini
- July 13th: Mercury re-enters Cancer
- July 31: Mercury exits Cancer
If you have natal or progressed planets/angles/Nodes from 0-3 degrees of the Cardinal signs, you'll experience Mercury's emphasis on these degrees the most strongly.
