Mars enters Aquarius at 6:57 PM EST tonight, December 4th.
I've discussed this transit a bit, here and here. Mars and Uranus (in Aries) will be in mutual reception (they will be in each other's signs). This reciprocity will emphasize the energy of each planet. Mars is action, aggression, initiative. Uranus is surprise and liberation. Mars in Aquarius acts abruptly anyway, but this will be enhanced with its reception to Uranus.
Note that this does not mean Mars will only act in a positive fashion, because the magic of mutual reception somehow makes it all better. Everything will be enhanced. The houses in your chart where Uranus and Mars are transiting may be linked by certain events, even when these planets are not in aspect (although they will sextile each other, and their mutual reception will be felt most strongly during this aspect).
The transiting South Node (culminating situations) is in Aries as well, so part of your "deal with it and move on" plan may involve Aquarius' energy.
Transiting Mars activates areas of your chart. In Aquarius, those activations will involve breaking the rules, starting something brand new, and cauterizing the past. Aquarius/Uranus is concerned with the future, so this transit will detach people from the past, or anything/anyone that is stagnating. People will proclaim what makes them stand apart.
Mars in Aquarius says "Just let me do my thing, right now." Yes, this sign can be concerned with the greater good, but Mars will be firing it up. Even a crusade that's aimed at making things better for others will have a revolutionary feel.
This is excellent if you've been stuck in a rut, or wallowing in a relationship that died long ago. A jolt of detachment can clean everything out. This is not excellent if you need to be sensitive. Mars in Aquarius cares not for give and take. It's not self-centred (Aquarius is too detached for that) but it's objective action that's concerned with the bigger picture, and only the bigger picture. Mars' passion may lessen Aquarius' detachment a bit, but it will also lessen its rationality.
Aquarius is a Fixed sign, which means it can be just as stubborn as Taurus. The downsides to this transit are slash and burn tactics that are driven by the relentless desire to just do it already.
Obviously, how this transit shakes out for you will depend on your chart. Handle it with caution, but know that if you've been waiting for a clean break, this could be your revolution. How are you going to handle it?
Here are the aspects Mars in Aquarius will be making:
- December 20th: sextiling Uranus Rx in Aries at 12 degrees (Venus in Capricorn will square Uranus and conjunct Pluto on the same day)
- December 24th: trining the North Node in Libra/sextiling the South Node in Aries at 15 degrees (and conjunct the Moon in Aquarius)
- January 1st: opposing Jupiter Rx in Leo at 21 degrees
Mars will be in Aquarius until January 12th, 2015.
