Venus enters Aquarius on January 3rd, giving love, money, values and all relationships a slightly detached energy.
People get Aquarian detachment confused with ice-cold indifference. This is not true at all. While this sign is not known for Scorpionic levels of intimacy, there can be electrical moments of sudden attraction, and enduring love (Aquarius is a Fixed sign). Aquarius love is the least judgemental love out there.
Venus in Aquarius can break you out of a rut. Anything new, innovative, unusual and revolutionary is Aquarian. Aquarius urges you to step back and look at things from a distance. This can be helpful if you're fixated, or depressed, or loving someone who's not available. Aquarius is the cool balm that soothes a raw, hurting Venus.
Sometimes it feels good to not be so attached. This transit can help you evaluate how much significance you're assigning to someone. Are you honestly an empty shell without Mr/Miss X in your life? This energy can help you rediscover what's beautiful about you. Scars, quirks, phobias and disapproval-inducing habits included. Venus in Aquarius simply does not care what others think, and that's what makes her beautiful.
Mind you, there's always Shadow Aquarius: the perverse rebel, the alienated lover, the bitter lone wolf. Too much detachment can push you into the void, where nothing and no one can touch you. Venus in Aquarius can respond to pain by observing everything through the wrong end of the telescope.
Aquarius in your chart is where your new stuff sits. It's the untried, untested, innovative part of your life. Your box of surprises, and transiting Venus may attract a few surprises.
She begins this transit on a grounded note, with a sextile to Saturn at 1 degree Sag, from January 3rd to 4th. This is a nice way to ease into Aquarius, because Saturn's structure will act as a solid, stepping-off point without being restrictive. Something that begins on these two days will be off to a good start, because Saturn makes it real, and Saturn in Sag is about real potential.
Here are the other aspects Venus in Aquarius will be making:
- January 13th: sextile Uranus at 12 degrees Aries and conjunct Mercury (although the conjunction will not quite be exact)
- January 14th: trine the North Node at 13 degrees Libra (and sextile the South Node in Aries)
- January 19th: opposite Jupiter Rx at 19 degrees Leo
Venus will be in Aquarius until January 27th.
Note that both Venus (ruler of the transiting North Node in Libra) and Mars (ruler of the transiting South Node in Aries) will be in Aquarius until January 12th (when Mars enters Pisces). This gives your Nodal work (if you've been working with the transiting Nodes) an Aquarian flavour. I've already discussed the significance of Mars in Aquarius here, but with Venus (and the North Node), you can use Aquarius' energy to depersonalize things a bit. Consider what makes you different/beautiful, and then remember that everyone is "flawed" or different. Everyone, no matter how they appear on the outside. Everyone feels like an outcast at some point, so we're all alone, together. But some people don't like to recognize this.
Does this make you feel less special? Did you think your pain was unique? It's not. We're talking about Aquarius, not Leo. Your pain is valid, but someone out there has gone through what you're going through. Some have gone through worse. Some survived, some thrived, some did not. Your pain, your low self-esteem, your feelings of rejection, are no more or less valid than what others are going through. But it's this realization (that you're not alone) that can help you climb out of the pit. This is the Aquarian brand of comfort and encouragement, btw.
Consider how this might apply to the transiting North Node in your chart.
