Aries needs challenge to keep its fire burning, and nothing is more challenging than an objective to win. Mars and Venus are upping the game (especially in the romance department) but how you deal with this depends on how you feel about competition. Some respond to it, others initiate it, and some shrink from the idea.
Your comfort level with competition is described (primarily) by the condition of your natal Mars, and any planets/asteroids in the Aries section of your chart. What triggers your competitive urge can range from jealousy/insecurity, to the pure joy of testing yourself against another. Lack of competitive spirit can result from insecurity about winning, to being so laid back that you don't care. Yes, insecurity can trigger or douse the competitive flame, depending on your chart.
There are three, broad categories that the approach to competition falls under:
- the joy/satisfaction of testing yourself
- the drive to claim/destroy what another person has
Natal Mars in the Fire signs, or in aspect to natal Jupiter or the Sun, is more likely to bounce into the fray, because...why not? The optimism that Fire energy brings makes competition full of exciting possibility. Winning is always an option. Mars in Scorpio square Pluto may be equally competitive, but the instinct to win is probably triggered by the urge to conquer the "enemy." Less joyful, more driven. If you have natal Chiron (and nothing else) in Aries, you may do battle with yourself over doubts around competing, or even deserving to win. Natal Saturn in Aries is grimly focused on a goal (defined by the house it's in) and competition is flavoured with endurance. Natal Jupiter in Aries can treat the whole thing as a game.
If you're naturally competitive, the current transits will enhance that. If you're not, you could feel very uncomfortable with this energy. Then again, you may get a shot of courage that pushes you into a battle you would normally sit out.
