I've started following a blog entitled "Confessions of a Funeral Director." He talks about death, how we deal with the grief of others, how we deal with our grief, the physical reality of death (corpses), and everything in between.
This blog is refreshing and essential. Death is part of life. I understand how some might find this morbid, but I think it's an important conversation to have. Death touches all of us and is inevitable. It used to involve ritual. In my opinion, that sacredness, the unblinking acceptance, was a healthy way to process the passing of a loved one.
And yet, it's such a taboo topic now (represented by Scorpio). It's morphed from sacred to forbidden and creepy. It's a frightening place where many don't want to go. This is understandable. It's huge and powerful, and equalizes everyone. The condition of your natal Pluto (bringer of literal and metaphorical death) asteroid Ceres (how you deal with cycles of nurturing and loss) and planets in Scorpio/the 8th House describe how you deal with death. Not just your mortality, but all types of permanent loss.
When confronted with the potential of permanent loss, do you deny, fight or embrace the idea? How you deal with absolute endings (in any area of your life) says a lot about how you deal with death. It's a necessary part of your cycle, because unchecked growth leads to fatal imbalances. Everything...absolutely everything....ends.
Transiting Venus will be entering Scorpio on Dec 4th (which I'll write about). This is the "sexy transit" but it's primarily about confronting the ultimate loss. Any planet in Scorpio will take you down to the bedrock where you confront the possibility of an ultimate ending and loss of control. This is what makes Scorpio so intense. The possibility of losing it all, of going so deep that you can't come back. Is that appealing? Apparently yes, because so many find Scorpio/Pluto irresistible. What does that tell us about the ultimate ending? Maybe something about the attraction we feel to the truth about our existence.
We're all going to end.
Of particular note is Dec 17, 2015 when Venus in Scorpio squares Ceres in Aquarius (at 14 deg).
More about this in a couple of days.
