This year, we'll have a couple of extra things to celebrate on December 25th: a Full Moon and Uranus direct.
The Full Moon at 3 degrees Cancer trines Neptune (at 7 degrees Pisces). Cancer is emotional, Full Moons are intense, and Neptune will further enable the flood by breaking down boundaries and restraint. Be prepared for tons of nostalgia, and maybe some tears. Cancer is about the past, nurturing/mothering and needs. This is a tender Moon, and Neptune ups the empathy and compassion. But it may also be tempting to drown your sorrows (Neptune rules alcohol). Restraint will be in short supply.
For an accompanying exact aspect, we have Mercury in Capricorn trining Jupiter in Virgo (at 22 degrees). Jupiter will encourage reticent Mercury in Capricorn to open up, so this Moon may involve significant family conversations, plans or the explanation of rules (Capricorn). Jupiter trine Mercury is a harmonious aspect, so words should flow freely (perhaps too freely, depending on how much everyone's drinking). Venus in Scorpio will sextile Jupiter and Mercury (an exact sextile to Jupiter on December 24th). Structured ideas (Mercury in Capricorn) will be softened by authentic wants/attraction (Venus) which will be expanded by a rush of information/ideas (Jupiter in Virgo). All this will be talked about, openly.
And the Virgo North Node will be close by (at 25 degrees) so it can be included in the Mercury/Jupiter trine; positive plans for the future. Even a drunken monologue (Jupiter/Mercury can get self-righteous) can trigger forward movement, if it's hooked into the North Node.
Jupiter is approaching a conjunction with the North Node, and I'll write about this in a few.
And of course, we have Uranus stationing direct at 16 degrees Aries. It's not aspecting this Moon, but when the planet of liberation and surprise moves forward on the same day as a Full Moon, conclusions can jump out at you. When Uranus stations direct, it's time to get a move on. Impatience with restrictions can become unbearable, as can tolerance for tradition. Next steps that have been on hold may be triggered. Remember that a Full Moon is a culmination, so something's been brewing for a while. The Winter Solstice, which features the Sun's ingress into Capricorn on December 21st, may provide a preview of this Full Moon action (more about that later).
As a side note, Vesta (devotion) at 4 degrees Aries will be squaring this Moon. There may be some tension over where to focus your energy. It could be an either/or thing, as you're pulled between friends/family, in laws/blood relatives, partner/parents, partner/pets, home/career...the list is endless. 4 degrees Aries in your chart will tell you more.
Overall, I like this energy. Sure, it's emotional. But it's Christmas...what did you expect? Lots of potential for getting it all out there, with some gentle aspects from Venus and Jupiter to smooth the edges. Some results may catch you by surprise, but there will be no fakery.
If you have anything from 0 to 7 degrees of the Cardinal or Water signs, you'll feel this Moon most intensely. 20 to 23 degrees Virgo, Capricorn or Scorpio will feel the Mercury/Jupiter/Venus mix, and 15 to 17 degrees of the Cardinal signs will feel Uranus direct.
