This year's September 23rd Autumnal Equinox (the Sun's ingress into Libra) is closely aligned with the transiting North Node. The Sun will pass over the North Node on September 24th, giving this equinox an extra shot of significance.
The Fall Equinox has always been a special time. The hours of daylight and darkness are balanced, and we pause before we cross the threshold into shorter days and longer nights. That crossing is what makes this energy significant. Any threshold crossing is energetically potent, because change is assured.
It is the start of harvest time, when crops are gathered and stored for the approaching winter. But the metaphor of reaping what you've sown can apply in any situation. It reminds us that Libra is about more than pretty clothes and polite conversation. The full use of Libra energy involves finding the union between two sides. In order to do this, it's preferable that the ingredients from one side (what you've sown) are of good quality. Whatever you've spent the preceding months doing/not doing, will now come to fruition.
For added oomph, the Libra Sun will sextile Saturn, at 0 degrees Sagittarius (on September 23rd). This is a "let's get real about what we've done so far" influence. Not harsh or challenging, but a sober reminder that what you put into anything is reflected in the results (Saturn is about responsibility). And if you're not happy with what you've sown? Or you simply weren't at your best (it happens) and were unable to plant the good stuff? This still qualifies as a new beginning. All equinoxes and solstices do. Saturn can help you focus and make the most of the time ahead. Minimize the crap that's come before, because it's over and done with. Draw that line and say goodbye: you've got the seasonal shift on your side. Saturn (at 0 degrees Sag in your chart) is where you're meant to refocus/take responsibility, and that will support what's happening in the Libra area of your chart. But this is a sextile...it's quiet. You've got to work it.
Let's add in the North Node. Since it represents what's ripe for development (and it will be exiting Libra for Virgo on November 11th) this implies that the time will be ripe to look at what you've done in relation to what's coming up. Have you worked with the potential in the Libra area of your chart? Are there imbalances to be corrected? Is there something natal/progressed around 0 to 1 degrees Libra that is ready to be developed?
If you have a birthday from September 23rd to September 27th, the transiting North Node will be conjuncting your Solar Return Sun, which means your main purpose/focus for this year will have special significance.
Mars' Virgo ingress will happen on September 24th, as well. Tons of harvesting symbolism there (Virgo wields the scythe). Stay tuned for that post.
