Here are the cards I drew for the January 16th New Moon in Capricorn:
- reversed Knight of Cups (Water)
- reversed 9 of Wands (Moon in Sagittarius - Fire)
- Ace of Cups (Water)
The Knight of Cups usually brings something you want, but when he's reversed, what he brings is disappointing or doesn't arrive at all. So it's possible that this New Moon did not deliver the goods. The reversed 9 of Wands can mean that you're weak, defenseless or overdefensive. The disappointment of the reversed Knight may have created this situation, or maybe your ultra-defensive stance drove someone away - that Knight could be retreating.
However, the Ace of Cups is upright, and that's always good. Here's the new beginning with desired potential. You haven't lost it all - there's still hope for these new developments to deliver something you want. It may not be what you initially planned for (the Knight) but there's still something there, even if you're expecting the worst or you feel like you've lost.
Water extinguishes Fire, so the Fire card is definitely the weakest in this spread. Which means you could be feeling quite weak. But at the same time, that 9 of Wands is so overwhelmed by the Water cards that the issue you're being attacked over is almost a non-issue. It doesn't really matter at this point - focus on that Ace.
