The outstanding features of the March 17th New Moon (26 deg Pisces, 9:11 AM EDT) are its conjunction to Chiron and square to Mars in the final degree of Sagittarius.
Mars square Chiron means painful actions/anger. Mars in Sag is pushy and optimistic, while Pisces is sensitive. This suggests going too far and hitting a sore spot, or uncovering a weakness. Because this is a New Moon, this will be a new beginning. And, it will be triggered by enthusiastic efforts or a bold expression of righteous anger.
But right away, we see the potential to stumble. First efforts will be awkward or ill-timed. You may start something but you'll be in a position of weakness. Know that pushing harder to make it better probably won't work (Pisces does not respond to force). If someone is pummelling you with their energy, you could feel victimized.
But take heart, because there are some positive aspects here. The New Moon/Chiron conjunction also trines Jupiter Rx in Scorpio. So there will be benefits or workarounds, stemming from the shift in perspective that Jupiter Rx brings. Whether you're slowing down or narrowing your focus (and maybe this is part of the difficulties around this New Moon) your willingness to just back off and allow the current to flow where it wants to will ultimately make things easier. There will still be a wound, but if there's one message I've been repeating about Pisces it's "allow and accept." Pisces delivers an ultimate truth that involves releasing the illusion of control.
But this does not mean acting like a victim or wallowing in what went wrong. Mars will enter Capricorn (where he's strong) a few hours after this New Moon, and you should feel a definite shift in the energy. Suddenly, you won't be thrashing around - your actions will be focused, disciplined and all about doing what needs to be done. You'll be moving past the initial ouch and getting down to business.
As the events of this New Moon unfold, accept that there will be a painful/vulnerable event. Accept that, then ask yourself "What do I need to do next?"
On a side note, there's some interesting imagery here. Teacher/healer Chiron was a centaur who was accidentally wounded by a poisoned arrow. Sagittarius' symbol is a centaur with a bow, and the centaur fusion of man and horse describes the mix of reason/civilization with lack of reason/wildness (Chiron was the wise one amongst the rowdy centaurs). So there is a theme to this Moon of thoughtless actions with painful results. But on the flipside, wisdom can be gained from what hurts if you're paying attention (learn from what happens).
Too, this could be about discovering what lies on the other side of the hunt - what happens after the arrow hits its mark? Are you the hunter in this scenario, or the quarry?
