Another Summer Solstice arrives, as the Sun enters Cancer on June 21st at 11:54 am EDT.
This is the longest day - the celebration of life and nurturing. For some, it’s a celebration of family (Cancer is the sign of mother/child and the childhood environment). For others, a reminder of family issues that they are still dealing with. Family is not a place of comfort for many, so I prefer to envision this as the moment when you celebrate your power to make your own family and your own safe space.
Neptune also stations Rx today (18 deg Pisces) which adds a subtle influence to this Summer Solstice. Neptune Rx can intensify dissolution, illusion or confusion. The purpose is to eventually reveal a truth, but with Neptune it’s never a direct process. This suggests that the light of this longest day may illuminate some family issues that need to be clarified, released and forgiven.
And, we have two eclipses (see the list below for dates and degrees). These are amplified turning points, again related to home, family and childhood. Along with the Sun’s passage over the North Node (future) and opposition to Saturn and Pluto, it indicates that this Cancer season will very much be about confronting family traditions and making new ones for yourself.
Ultimately, you’re looking for new ways to make yourself feel safe and nurtured, and/or to nurture others. Perhaps you’re creating your own family or declaring your separation from your existing family.
What will you be celebrating on the longest day?
