Full Moon Eclipse in Libra

The April 4th Full Moon eclipse (at 14 degrees Libra) will trigger the final Uranus/Pluto square (even though it's technically finished). So while you may be over the whole Uranus/Pluto thing (with your issue wrapped up) this eclipse will still feel significant. And it's happening over the Easter weekend, for added fun.

14 degrees of the Cardinal signs will be rocked by this eclipse's culminations. That may seem unfair. Haven't you completed your work with that damned square? But, there's a reason a particular degree is hit repeatedly. In this case, it suggests there's still something to be shaken loose. Or, maybe you didn't get the message with the Uranus/Pluto square, and now it's going to be delivered straight to your door.

Either way, the Sun's conjunction to Uranus in Aries, and the Sun/Moon opposition squaring Pluto in Capricorn, will combine renovations of structures with a clarifying blast of revelation. As in "I may not like it, but I see exactly what I have to do now." The Uranus/Pluto pressured Moon in Libra suggests dramatic swings between freedom and neediness, or detachment and control. Moon opposite Uranus can suddenly break away, while Moon square Pluto hangs on grimly. One or both may dominate, depending on your chart.

Jupiter Rx (at 12 degrees Leo) is there to help, with a wide trine to the Sun and sextile to the Moon. Jupiter in Leo is optimistic, but also demanding and full of entitlement. "Help" can manifest as Jupiter's expansive energy adding gasoline to a flammable situation. But you may find the backdraft from Jupiter's fireball pushes you in the right direction.  12 degrees Leo in your chart will be your exit strategy. This eclipse will not be about building or solidifying, so if you see an exit, take it.

Just in case the theme of endings isn't crystal clear, April 5th will see transiting Mercury passing over the South Node (at 10 degrees Aries) and building to a trine with Jupiter Rx on April 6th. Here's your final conversation/goodbye/announcement, maybe with an anticlimactic feel after the eclipse. But still. Mercury over the transiting South Node (a situation that needs to be completed) helps you put the ending into words. Jupiter should make it easier to say those words, or feel confident about your choice.

Since eclipses and surrounding influences are not limited to the exact day they occur, you may be feeling a combination of the eclipse/South Node activation already.

If you have natal or progressed planets/angles/Nodes from 10 to 16 degrees of the Cardinal signs, you'll feel this eclipse most strongly. The orb is wider because I'm including the Nodes. 11 to 14 degrees of the Fire signs will feel the trine to Jupiter Rx.

The Final Uranus/Pluto Square: Where Will You Land?

We're approaching the last chapter of the Uranus/Pluto square.

It started on June 24th, 2012.  The final square will hit on March 16th, 2015. There's so much going on this month (including the upcoming Virgo Full Moon) that it's difficult to isolate one aspect and identify it as a deciding factor. I think the square will be one song in March's acceleration mix.

By now, you're probably familiar with the Uranus/Pluto square agenda. Pluto in Capricorn digs up the foundations of the past, and Uranus in Aries illuminates what's revealed with the light of clarity and future possibilities. Acceleration away from the outmoded traditions of the past.

This final push will build on the previous squares:

  • June 24th, 2012: 8 degrees
  • September 19 2012: 6 degrees
  • May 20 2013: 11 degrees
  • November 1 2013: 9 degrees
  • April 21 2014: 13 degrees
  • December 15 2014: 12 degrees
  • March 16 2015: 15 degrees

This square is surrounded by other aspects that are meant to intensify and focus that change. It's not just random destruction; there's a method to this madness. Venus and Mars in Aries started the ball rolling with their activation of Uranus/Pluto, and the Nodes. Desire (Venus) followed by action (Mars) caught your attention and compelled you to look at what needed completing. Nothing grabs attention like a Venus/Mars punch. The trine between Jupiter Rx in Leo and Uranus, plus Jupiter's inconjunct to Pluto, was an enabler. Jupiter expanded the good stuff, or inflamed the intolerable stuff, so there was no way you could stay comfy with the status quo.

Also on March 16th, we have an exact square between Mercury in Pisces and Saturn (at 4 degrees Sagittarius). Saturn will have just stationed retrograde on March 14th. Saturn's limits (especially since he's moving in reverse) will clamp down on Mercury in Pisces' free floating ideas, cautioning you to slow down andthink it through before you make that final leap. I'll write more about Saturn Rx and his square to Mercury, but for now, consider it a warning/grounding influence that ensures your buttons will be all done up before you cut loose from whatever Uranus/Pluto is urging you to leave behind. The Universe doesn't want you to make changes carelessly.

Do you have a plan? Saturn square Mercury is all about the plan.

Further proof of grounding is Venus' move into Taurus on March 17th. Right after the big blast of change, the planet of love, money and values enters a Fixed Earth sign that is concerned with the slow, steady accumulation of security and resources. There's solid ground to land on after you make the jump.

So it looks good. You won't be left dangling. Have faith that the Universe knows what's in your best interests, and move forward.

If you have natal/progressed planets, angles or Nodes from:

  • 14 to 17 degrees of the Cardinal signs, you'll feel the Uranus/Pluto square
  • 3 to 4 degrees of the Mutable signs, you'll feel the Saturn/Mercury square

I have an entire category in the archives dedicated to Uranus/Pluto square, if you want a refresher.

For those who like to look at the bigger picture, the April 4th Full Moon eclipse (at 14 degrees Libra) will ping the Uranus/Pluto square, and possibly reignite certain issues if they haven't been dealt with.

Full Moon in Cancer and the Cross

Full Moon

January 4th brings us the first lunation of 2015: a Full Moon at 14 degrees Cancer.

This one will be all about the Uranus/Pluto square and the transiting Nodes. The Sun will conjunct Pluto (at 13 degrees Capricorn) and square Uranus (at 12 degrees Aries). Pluto is approaching a square (exact on January 15th) to the South Node in Aries/North Node in Libra, and Uranus is approaching a conjunction to the South Node/opposition to the North Node (exact on January 20th). The Sun/Moon opposition will square the Nodes at 14 degrees, although technically the Sun's square will not be exact until January 5th.

This creates a Grand Cardinal Cross that combines Uranus/Pluto and the Nodal themes, in one convenient package. Yes, even though the current Uranus/Pluto square is separating, and the contacts to the Nodes are still growing in strength.

In a nutshell, here's what's involved:

  • Uranus/Pluto square: excavating old rules/foundations (Pluto in Capricorn) while blasting a new path to the future (Uranus in Aries)
  • Transiting Nodes: wrapping up issues that involve assertiveness, action, anger (SN in Aries) and developing issues that involve relationships, compromise, balance, projection (NN in Libra)

When these themes collide, you'll get a sudden release/completion of South Node stuff, courtesy of Uranus (at 12-14 degrees Aries, in your chart). Watch for abrupt endings, arguments or breaks for freedom. The feeling of a Uranus/South Node contact is "enough's enough." Of course, whatever crosses the South Node opposes the North Node, which is an opportunity to move towards it (at 12-14 degrees Libra in your chart). You'll have no excuses, because the South Node will be done.

And Pluto will be squaring the whole works, creating tension (at 12-14 degrees Capricorn, in your chart). The tension will make things so uncomfortable, an existing situation will have to change. It could involve anything from changes to the status quo, an increase/decrease in authority, a reveal of what lies beneath the facade of respectability...it depends on your chart.

The Full Moon will be the trigger that sets it all in motion. Cancer (in your chart) will be where the deciding event comes from, but the entire issue has been building for a while. It shouldn't be too much of a surprise (if you've been paying attention).

What do we know about a Grand Cardinal Cross? Well, there was one back in April 22-23rd, 2014.  That Cross hit 13 degrees, so this Cross is likely to stir up similar events. Think back to what happened in April; the same areas of your chart will be hit. This Full Moon may actually be the culmination of April's events. Note that this Moon will be very close to where transiting Jupiter in Cancer (in April's Cross) sat, suggesting that emotions (Cancer) will run high. Since any square to the Nodes is an issue that needs resolution before you can complete the South Node/move towards the Node Node, watch for crucial Cancer themes. These may include family, nurturing and childhood. Opposed by Pluto and the Sun in Capricorn, this may involve needs being met/undermined, helplessness/personal power, neediness/independence. The adult (Capricorn)/child (Cancer) axis is the tipping point for this cross.

As was the case with April's cross, this influence will be about accelerated change. It doesn't have to hit you like a ton of bricks. The Cardinal signs respond to forward movement, so if you've already been working with the Uranus/Pluto square and the transiting Nodes, this Full Moon may simply be the confirmation that you're doing ok. But if you've been denying the inevitable, you won't be able to deny it after this.

Mercury enters Aquarius on January 4th as well. This should help, because detached Aquarius will enable communication/ideas (Mercury) that are chill. With all the emotion this Cross is packing, you should be able to step back (mentally) and look at the bigger picture. Mercury will be close to Venus (at 1 degree Aquarius) which bodes well for friendly (or at least polite) discussions.

Don't get me wrong, the Cross and the Full Moon will dominate. But if you're looking for help, Mercury in Aquarius is your guy. If things get overwhelming, channel that Aquarius energy: future-focused, rational, detached from outcomes. Aquarius is able to remain friendly (under most circumstances) because everything and everyone is part of the bigger picture, and nothing has more importance than anything else. Except for freedom, of course. Plus, Aquarius is ruled by Uranus (which will be triggering that South Node). So as much as you may want to roll around in your feelings, a bit of detachment will be enormously helpful. I know that's not easy, and I'm not suggesting that what you may feel is invalid. The Moon will be trining Wounded Healer Chiron (at 13 degrees Pisces) after all, so you'll be encouraged  to stay with your feelings, to acknowledge what is happening, because that's how you'll process them. A trine from Chiron enables movement through the spectrum of your emotions.

But there's a difference between acknowledging your feelings and moving forward, versus wallowing in your feelings. There's a time to wallow, but this Full Moon will not be it.

If you have natal or Progressed planets/angles/Nodes from:

  • 11 to 15 degrees of the Cardinal signs, you'll feel this Full Moon and all associated influences most strongly
  • 12 to 14 degrees of the Water signs will feel the trine to Chiron
